From splashing into the pool with Swimkidz at just 9 months old, continuing through our baby, toddler, independent and squad programmes. Amelie’s journey with Swimkidz has been nothing short of inspirational.

Here is her story which is one of bravery, determination, and inspiration

At just 2 years old, Amelie’s life changed when she contracted E.Coli O157:H7. This developed into Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS) and her kidneys were severely damaged. She bravely endured 3 months of dialysis as a toddler and went on to live with a strict diet. Amelie continued to received complex medical care for 8 long years.

When her kidney function dropped to just 10%, Amelie received the greatest gift of all – a kidney transplant from her Mum in February 2022

Through it all Amelie never gave up – and she never lost her love for swimming. With the support of her incredible family and every Swimkidz teacher who has guided her along the way, she has gone on to achieve something truly incredible. https://www.britishtransplantgames.co.uk

This Year, Amelie achieved one of her biggest dreams – competing at the British Transplant Games!!

Representing Wales in the 25m x 400 relay, she swam her heart out and won a bronze medal. This is an incredible achievement especially after everything she has been through.

Amelie has bought such joy into the pool each week and is a shining example of what it means to never give up.

Amelie, you are proof that with courage, determination and support anything is possible. You are an inspiration to us all and we could not be more proud of you
